We went to Groam House Museum last week for the first time. We live in Inverness and are really interested in the Picts and Scottish history. Andrew was amazing and gave us such a captivating talk about the Picts and the local history. We were so impressed with his incredible wealth of knowledge. We came away feeling very inspired and eager to learn more. The museum itself is small but has some amazing artifacts and a super shop filled with local crafts and wares from local artists. Well worth a visit! ❤️

A great little museum with a wonderful volunteer giving us a brilliant history of the Picts and adapted it for our children. He was so passionate and we learnt more in those 15 minutes than I ever do in most museums so it is well worth a visit!

A hidden little gem if you are interested in the mysterious Picts. The lovely gentleman on the counter takes time to explain and discuss the enigmatic artefacts and to answer your questions. Also a fascinating and kid friendly display on Celtic art, and a refreshingly different gift shop. An added bonus, a lovely little pub just a few yards fiwn the road. Highly recommended all round.

Great museum but not the best welcome. As a tour guide with small groups I like to visit the Black Isle and my group were interested in Pictish carvings so thought I’d try it. We initially got a great welcome from one of the volunteer ladies who I gave a large donation to. My group very much enjoyed it but then another lady who I’m guessing might of been the supervisor came in and to say the least made me feel like I had ruined her day by bringing my group in. They only have a maximum of 16 pax to be allowed in at one time which I didn’t know but understand, we were 13 and had pretty much the place to ourselves but was spoken too in front of my guests who were buying things from the shop that to call ahead. I totally understand but was the manner I was spoken to especially after myself and my guests had spent quite a bit as donations and from the shop. Great museum and recommend it but attitude wasn’t great. It’s a lovely museum and worth a visit though with lots of good information about the Picts

We went to this museum expecting a quick pop-in and to see a few items without much context, hoping we could get a sniff of the local history. Well, the sniff of history was sure experienced! The volunteer that was there gave us the most interesting and detailed tour and background story I’ve ever heard from someone at a museum. He was full of life and passion about the Picts and the history in Scotland and Rosemarkie. He is a primary school teacher and I just know those kids are incredibly lucky with him. Kind sir, I forgot your name but you were the highlight of our visit on the Black Isle! Thank you so much for the time and effort, you clearly have a heart for what you do.

This museum is a real gem and well worth stopping in to see if you are in the area. There is a parking lot nearby that is a very easy walk to the entrance. The curator is extremely knowledgeable and gave us a very interesting explanation pertaining to the stones on display inside the museum. There is also a lovely gift shop that includes quite a number of books on the subject of the Picts. A real must for people who want to embrace the history of Scotland. Be sure to note the open hours, which begin in early afternoon.

The Picts rather lead an adventurous life and their disappearance is still a mystery. I learned a lot more about Picts after visiting this place. The evening lecture was superb and if you are a history buff then you should never miss this place. The place contains lots of stuff related to Pictish history. The assistants are very helpful and you can visit this place for free. Don't forget to buy souvenirs when you leave the place.

Fabulous museum with a wonderful display of Pictish stones and artwork. The museum staff/curator spent at least 20 minutes giving us an overview of Pictish artwork, the stone on display there, and loads more information that was incredibly interesting. The museum itself has an upstairs area with kids crafts and a small shop that includes many books on Celtic art, Pictish culture and history, and other related topics. I highly recommend anyone passing through to stop and spend a bit of time here, it is definitely worth it!

A small but a beautiful museum to visit. The staff is very friendly and gives a good explanation about the artifacts. On the first floor there is an area which depicts the history of the Rosemarkie village. The museum is on the main road and well maintained. Opening time is from 1pm to 4pm.

Small museum about local Pictish historical stones and the local areas history. + Friendly knowledgeable staff. Only one room with two floors so it is not going to take too long to look around. Reading everything and watching Thier short film took us about 40 mins total I think. Few items for purchase and they accept donations. Suggested donation when we where there was £3 per person which we donated happily (donation box, no pressure) A nice wee museum and if paired along with a walk up to the fairy glen falls and/or a stroll along the beach a worth while detour.
